New Album ‘Triliphony’ Pre-Release
Tues 14th October
The Underground in The Grand Hotel
(Cnr Bolton St and Church St Newcastle, opposite the Newcastle Courthouse)
8pm – $15/$10
Earlier in the year the HJT recorded their first ever trio album LIVE at SIMA in the Sound Lounge. After many long hours of choosing takes,
twerking tweeting twating tweaking reverb and frequencies outside of the human hearing spectrum and sending countless revisions and advice to the graphic designer to come up with what he had there in the first place, the moment has come to finally reveal the fruits of our labour for the very first time to you, Newcastle….
Just as on that fateful night, the people of Sydney gathered to help us create the great artistic atmosphere and vibe soup required to produce this album, we would like to entreat you to come and recreate the moment only so much better cause we’ll be north and in a pub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We’ll be playing tunes of our new album Triliphony and maybe a cover or two so come on down!
Hannah James – Double Bass
Casey Golden – Piano
Ed Rodrigues – Drums
So, even though we’ve all know it for, like, EVER, the world has finally cottoned on to how awesome our drummer Mr Ed Rodrigues REALLY is.
He is featured in this months edition of Australian Drum Scene as part of the best and brightest in the NEXT GEN of aussie jazz drummers!!!
“We’ve gathered the cream of the Australian Jazz Scene….including some of the youngest and best up and comers – showcasing the future greats of the local scene”
Aus Drum Scene Issue 78
As one of the most dedicated, creative and passionate individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing, this couldn’t be more deserved!

This is an ensemble I always love playing with and this time it has a twist – we all had to bring our own tune! Guaranteed varied program of music for the small big ensemble!
Here’s what Jazzgroove has to say on the matter….
“A welcome return for one of our scene’s favourite larger ensembles. With each member lending their pen to this sizeable beast for the first time, a string of radio-friendly hits will undoubtedly emerge, that showcase the striking variety of influences and approaches that this Collective of local heroes possess. The Doig-ocracy has been broken.”
Simon Ferenci – trumpet
Alex Silver – trombone
Dave Jackson – alto saxophone
Sean Coffin – tenor saxophone
Matt Ottignon – baritone saxophone
Glenn Doig – piano
Hannah James – bass
Dave Goodman – drums
